Antibody Vl Complementarity Determining Region 1
While in other variable domains the CDR 1 forms a relatively flat double loop, the CDR1 of lambda domains frequently look like a small helix lying across the top of the domain.
According to the Kabat and Chothia definitions, the CDR 1 comprises residues 24 to 42, and the length variability is accomodated after residue 27 (Kabat), after residue 30 (Chothia 19989-1997) or after residue 31 (Chothia pre.1989 and post-1997). Actual antigen contacts observed comprise residues 29-44 (data derived from both kappa and lambda domains)
