AAAAA: EXCEL macros: HowToColor - Index


Step 1 - Open the Workbook "AHo_macros.xls"

Step 2 - Open the ASCII text file containing your sequence alignment

Step 3 - Select the File

Step 4 - Use "Fixed width" text import

Step 5 - Define the Columns

Step 6 - Select the Columns you want to import

Step 7 - Select the Cells containing the Sequences

Step 8 - Call up the Macro "AA_Parse"

Step 9 - "AA_Parse" chops up the Sequence String into individual Amino Acids

Step 10 - Delete the old Sequence Strings

Step 11 - Format the Cells containig the Sequence Alignment

Step 12 - Select the Sequence Alignment

Step 13 - Run the Macro "AA_Type" to color the Alignment by Residue Type

Step 14 - Save the Result
