A model was formulated which would explain the observed behavior of the abpc48 scFV with a minimum of structural change. The proposed local inversion of strand b could be stabilized by hydrogen bonds between the tyrosine 92 sidechain OH and main-chain oxygen and hydrogens from strands b and e.
